Elections in Palestine
The Palestinian authorities have divided the local elections into two phases according to a 2021 decision of the Palestinian Authority Council of Ministers. The first phase was held in December 2021 while the second phase will be held on 26 March 2022 and include the remaining 66 local authorities in Gaza's larger municipalities in the West Bank.
The Jordanian people will cast their votes for representatives in the governorate councils, municipal councils, and the Amman City Council. Local elections bear the potential to strengthen local democratic intended to ensure that local policies reflect the needs and preferences of local communities. Effective local democracy can facilitate public participation, improve service delivery, strengthen communities, and improve development outcomes.
